Welcome back!
Hello Families,
Get ready, get set, get back to school! I hope you enjoyed a fun-filled summer. I am really looking forward to our upcoming year together. As the year begins, we'll spend time getting to know each other. When students feel safe and comfortable in the classroom, they're better able to take on academic challenges.
This year in our class will be exploring many exciting topics. We'll do a lot of scientific thinking and work as we explore matter and energy, forces and motion and how we can use the engineering process to solve real-world problems. In social studies we will focus on American history and geography. We'll build on fourth grade math and work in new areas such as coordinate geometry and more complex problem-solving.
Students will be learning strategies for improving reading and writing during our daily workshop activities.
In a few weeks, we'll have our annual Back to school night. Here are a few questions to think about for that evening: What are your hopes for your fifth grader this year? What academic and social goals do you have for your child?
Please contact me if you have any questions. You can email me at anna_allshouse@pvusd.net. I'm looking forward to meeting you and a great year ahead!
